Top Korean actor Lee Byung-hun testified at TV personality Kang Byung-kyu's hearing today, the two confronting each other for the first time since being embroiled in a legal battle also involving Lee's former girlfriend.

The trial took place behind closed doors as requested in advance by Lee, commencing a little past 4 p.m. at the Seoul Central Prosecutors' Office.

"I had kept quiet till now because I thought I had been set up in a ridiculous conspiracy," a calm-looking Lee told reporters after stepping out of court about an hour and a half later. "I thought this incident would be resolved quickly by taking legal action but it has somehow dragged on till now."

Lee also said he "gave an honest testimony about the facts the way they are," adding that the truth will soon be revealed.

Kang has been standing trial on two charges;' defaming and attempting blackmail against Lee, and his alleged involvement in an assault case on the set of last year's hit TV series "Iris."

The case started seven months ago when Lee's ex-girlfriend identified by her last name Kwon lodged a complaint to court saying she was allured into having a sexual relationship with Lee on his false promises of marriage and demanded she be compensated for physical and psychological damage.

Lee then filed a suit against Kwon as well as Kang, who according to Lee's legal representatives, was behind those who had demanded for money in exchange for exposing details of the actor's personal life.

Prosecutors sided with Lee, indicting Kang in mid-March for defamation and attempted blackmail against the actor. An angered Kang had then countersued Lee for defamation but the court cleared the actor of any charges.

Kang was also indicted for his alleged involvement in assaulting crew members of "Iris" -- then starring Lee -- which he visited in mid-December over talk that Chung Tae-won, chief of Taewon Entertainment and producer of the hit show, had spread false rumor that he was behind the feud between Lee and Kwon.

Taeyang of Korean idol group Big Bang, who released his solo album "Solar" last week, was recently cheered on by singer Sean and his two children.

Sean, a member of former hip-hop duo Jinusean, posted a picture on his social networking site Cyworld mini-hompy (http://www.cyworld.com/sean1010) Tuesday morning, which he shot when he took his young son and daughter to see the pop idol.

In the photo, the two singers were seen smiling with each carrying a child in their arms.

The father of three had also written some comments below the photo, which started with "To my loving family Taeyang, Ha-rang, Ha-eum."

Sean explained that upon seeing Taeyang perform, his daughter Ha-eum remarked, "Taeyang oppa [a Korean term used by females when referring to older male figures] is cool!" while Ha-rang held up his index finger and said, "Taeyang hyung-a [used by males when referring to older males], the best!"

Born Noh Seung-hwan, Sean debuted as the rapper of hip-hop duo Jinusean, one of the first groups created by Yang Hyun-suk of agency YG Entertainment.

Jinusean released their debut album "Gasoline" in June 1997, which produced two hit singles -- title track "Gasoline" and "Tell Me" featuring Korean pop singer Uhm Jung-hwa. Their last album as a group was "Norabosae," released November 2004.

Taeyang, whose real name is Dong Young-bae, was the first Big Bang member to debut as a solo artist, releasing his first mini-album "HOT" in May 2008. The album produced two hit singles "Prayer" and "Look Only at Me".

He also released two digital singles "Wedding Dress" and "Where U At" last November.

A photograph of Super Junior member Kang-in has been revealed for the first time since his entering the Korean military last week as part of fulfilling Korea's mandatory military duties.

The Nonsan military camp in South Chungcheong Province on Tuesday released a picture of the pop idol, who entered the military on July 5 and is currently undergoing five weeks of basic training.

In the photo, the singer is seen wearing a military uniform which bears his real name 'Kim Young-woon' and is making a fist with right hand amongst fellow trainee soldiers at the camp.

He had made headlines last October when he was caught drunk driving and fleeing the scene after colliding into two taxis. He turned himself into police several hours later, and was later summarily indicted with a fine of eight million won charged by the Seoul Central District Court.

The singer will be assigned to a military base, where he will serve for the next twenty months, after he wraps up training at Nonsan.
